Shoe Cleaning Methods
Modern shoe cleaning needs material knowledge, careful moisture control, glue awareness, colour protection and customer expectation setting. Sneakers, leather shoes and suede all need different workflows.
Shoe Cleaning Method Library
| Method | Process | Risk / Wisdom |
|---|---|---|
| Sneaker Basic Clean | Brush, pre-clean, controlled scrub, rinse wipe, dry slowly | Avoid soaking glued components. Protect logos and colour panels. |
| White Midsole Restore | Degrease, controlled whitening, UV/oxidation process if suitable | Over-whitening can damage rubber or leave uneven results. |
| Leather Shoe Refresh | Clean, condition, colour cream/polish, buff | Avoid stripping leather oils. Match colour carefully. |
| Suede/Nubuck Reset | Dry brush, suede eraser, controlled cleaner, nap restoration | Water and oil marks may not fully remove. Avoid over-wetting. |
| Odour Treatment | Sanitise, deodorise, dry and airflow | Odour can be caused by bacteria, moisture or inner sole failure. |
| Water/Salt Marks | Controlled neutralising and conditioning | Some marks reveal dye loss or leather damage. |
| Sole Separation Check | Inspect glue line and flex points | Cleaning can reveal existing glue weakness. Record before work. |
| Premium Sneaker Report | Before photos, material map, risk notes and customer approval | Best for high-value sneakers and collectibles. |
Sneakers
Clean gently, control moisture, protect logos and panels, avoid heat and watch glue lines.
Leather
Clean, condition and finish carefully. Dye loss, cracking and salt marks need clear customer expectation.
Suede / Nubuck
Brush direction, nap reset and dry techniques matter. Oil and water marks may not fully remove.
