Front counter intake: inspect before accepting

A simple intake rule protects the customer, the operator and the business.

Every garment, shoe, linen item or household article should be looked at before it is accepted. The front counter is the first quality control point.

Check care labels, fibre type, colour contrast, stains, trim, loose buttons, existing damage, odour, customer instructions and deadline expectation.

Record what is visible. Photograph high-risk items where your system supports this. Clear notes reduce disputes later.

Workplace checklist
  • Check care label and fibre type
  • Record existing marks, fading, wear and damage
  • Ask about unknown stains
  • Separate urgent, delicate, leather, suede, silk, wool, black/white and mixed-colour items
  • Confirm customer expectation before promising result
