Stain identification and triage
Food, oil, protein, tannin, ink, dye and unknown stains need different logic.
A stain should be treated as information. Ask what caused it, when it happened, whether it was rubbed, whether home remedies were used and whether heat has already been applied.
Unknown stains should be approached cautiously. Incorrect pre-spotting can set a stain, remove colour, damage fibre or create a larger visible mark.
Record stain location and customer expectation. “Improve” is often safer than promising “remove”.
