Trims, adhesives, coatings and bonded components
Many modern faults come from components, not the base fabric.
Buttons, beads, sequins, glued hems, bonded seams, shoulder pads, heat transfers, imitation leather, coated trims and decorative foils can fail during normal cleaning even when the base fabric is safe.
The safest process for the fabric may still be unsafe for a trim. Staff should identify and record component risk at intake and again before production.
Where adhesive or coating failure is likely, the customer must be warned before processing.
